Skin cancer occurs in different forms, the following three are particularly well-known:
Basal cell carcinoma (basal cell carcinoma):
Basal cell carcinoma usually occurs in sun-exposed areas such as the face, neck and arms. It usually grows slowly and rarely metastasizes, but if left untreated, it can invade surrounding tissue and destroy it.
Squamous cell carcinoma:
It also often occurs in sun-exposed areas. Squamous cell carcinoma can grow faster than basal cell carcinoma and has a higher risk of penetrating deeper layers of the skin and metastasizing if it is not treated early.
Malignant melanoma (black skin cancer):
This is the most malignant form of skin cancer. Melanoma can grow quickly and spread to other parts of the body. Early detection is particularly important here to ensure successful treatment.
Regular skin cancer screening is indispensable in order to detect skin cancer at an early stage and treat it successfully.
We recommend a checkup for everyone that has a lesion that changes or risk factors such as family history, previous history of melanoma or skin cancer, ore more than 50 nevi (pigmented lesions). By using state-of-the-art methods, such as reflected light microscopy, we can identify suspicious skin changes at an early stage and make an accurate diagnosis.
Skin lesions can represent both benign and malignant skin tumors. Depending on the type of tumor and also on the wishes of our patients, individual treatment can be carried out. We offer a variety of skin cancer treatments that include both surgical and non-surgical procedures.
Non-surgical procedures offer the advantage that they are often gentler and in many cases result in very good aesthetic results. We rely on state-of-the-art technologies here.
Photodynamic therapy (PDT):
This innovative method combines light-sensitive substances with special light to destroy cancer cells in a targeted manner. It is particularly suitable for superficial skin cancers and leads to excellent cosmetic results.
Modern laser procedures:
Our laser therapies make it possible to precisely remove skin cancer tissue without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue. This method is particularly gentle and suitable for smaller lesions.
Cold therapy (cryotherapy):
In this case, the cancerous tissue is destroyed by extreme cold. This method is particularly effective for smaller, superficial skin cancers and usually leaves no to minimal scars. This depends on how deep the tumor has penetrated into the skin.
Our close cooperation with the plastic surgeons of the clinic allows us to achieve the best functional and aesthetic results even in complex procedures.
Simple excision:
In this method, the tumor is removed at a safe distance and the wound is closed directly. This technique is particularly suitable for smaller tumors and skin cancer in the early stages.
Complex excision with reconstruction:
Complex excision may be required for larger tumors or in difficult areas. After the tumor has been removed, we work closely with our plastic surgeons to ensure the best possible reconstruction of the tissue.
Incisional margin-controlled MOHS surgery:
This high-precision method is used for skin cancers that have a high risk of recurrence or are located in critical areas. The tumor is removed layer by layer and immediately examined under the microscope to make sure that all cancer cells have been completely removed. This minimizes tissue loss and maximizes the chances of recovery.
Aesthetic excision of moles in visible areas (e.g. face):
Moles that are located in prominent places such as the face can be removed aesthetically and gently. We pay particular attention to a cosmetically optimal result in order to avoid scarring as much as possible and to preserve the aesthetic appearance.
Scar treatment with laser:
If a scar develops after an operation, we also offer modern laser therapy for scar treatment. This technology can significantly improve the appearance of the scar by smoothing the tissue and renewing the skin texture.
