What is Regenera Activa®?
Regenera Activa® is an innovative and gentle method for treating hair loss. It is based on reactivating and strengthening the growth of existing hair follicles using cells that are extracted from healthy areas of the scalp and then reintroduced into areas requiring treatment. The goal is to revitalise the hair roots there so that the hair can grow back stronger. It is a one-time procedure to give the hair more long-term fullness by activating the body’s endogenous healing processes.
Who can benefit from this treatment with Regenera Activa®?
Treatment with Regenera Activa® is suitable for women and men who suffer from androgenetic alopecia (hormone-induced hair loss). It is the most common form of hair loss. It is characterised by an increased sensitivity of the hair follicles to androgenic hormones. In men, it usually starts with a receding hairline and eventually leads to thinning hair at the back of the head. Women usually notice thinning of their hair in the area of the centre parting.
The procedure: What you can expect before, during and after the treatment
Each of our treatments begins with a detailed consultation. Dr Rosenthal will discuss your wishes and needs with you and examine your scalp. If Regenera Activa® is a suitable treatment option for you, she will provide you with information about the exact procedure and any potential risks. Of course, you will always have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
Preparation for the treatment
To be on the safe side, you should refrain from taking painkillers for about ten days before the treatment. You should also stop using scalp solutions containing minoxidil.
The treatment process
Treatment with Regenera Activa® is performed on an outpatient basis and takes about 30 minutes. First, we apply a small local anaesthetic, usually behind the ear. Next, we take skin samples from the scalp, each approx. 2.5 mm in diameter.
The tissue is then specially prepared: The pieces of tissue are mechanically shredded by the Regenera device. Next, the resulting preparation is enriched with a sodium chloride solution and then injected with a fine needle into the areas of the scalp to be treated.
Expectations after treatment and recovery
This is a minimally invasive treatment that does not involve any recover time at home. This means you can leave our premises quickly and immediately return to socialising and work. You can wash your hair again the next day.
The results are usually visible after 6–8 weeks at the earliest. To maintain the result, another session can be performed after 2–3 years.
Potential risks
The Regenera Activa® treatment is considered safe and is generally very well tolerated. However, there is a certain risk of side effects with every treatment. Possible side effects of Regenera Activa® include temporary redness or swelling as well as sensitivity at the injection sites. However, these symptoms should subside after a few days.
