ARTAS® is the world’s only innovative technology for automated hair transplants. We use FUE, a robot-assisted hair transplantation method that combines robotics with artificial intelligence. It involves the harvesting of groups of hair roots using a computer-controlled robotic arm. First, the donor site is precisely visualised using 3D technology to ensure that only healthy and robust hair is harvested. The hair can then be implanted with the utmost precision.
ARTAS® robotics technology facilitates highly efficient and reproducible harvesting of hair follicles. The technology’s speed and precision are among its notable advantages. The 3D scan of the donor site ensures that only hairs suitable for transplant are selected. The technology enables the precise calculation of the growth angle for each individual hair.
The process starts with a detailed consultation, including hair analysis. We will do our best to determine the cause of your hair loss to establish whether sapphire hair transplantation is the right treatment for you. We will talk you through the procedure, discuss possible risks and answer any questions you may have. We will of course provide you with detailed information about the expected costs.
It is advisable not to take any blood-thinning agents for about two weeks before the hair transplantation. We also recommend that you stop smoking before the procedure. Please refrain from using hair styling products on the day of your treatment.
FUE hair transplantation is performed on an outpatient basis under local anaesthetic. Depending on the number of grafts to be transplanted, the treatment can take between three and eight hours.
The hair is usually harvested from the back of the head. The donor hair is shaved to a length of 1.5 mm in advance. The donor site is captured using a 3D scan and the hair growth angles are measured.
We work with the iX, the latest ARTAS® robotics technology model. The grafts are detached from the back of the head and harvested using a robotic arm. The harvesting is performed with exceptional precision, leaving tiny, barely visible scars. In theory, robotics technology can also be used to make the incisions, which are the openings for the fine channels of the hair follicles.
However, we suggest manual incision using the sapphire technique, which allows for precise graft insertion and is a safe hair transplantation option involving minimal scarring.
The harvested grafts are carefully examined under a microscope to ensure that they are intact and processed in a nutrient-rich solution.
Fine sapphire blades are used to open the micro-channels, making the procedure less invasive and enabling insertion without causing trauma. Now we implant the hair into the desired areas of the scalp. The treatment area then undergoes a final check. This ensures that all hair follicles have been properly transplanted.
In most cases, the grafts are transplanted manually by human hand. Robotics technology has not yet reached a level of maturity that allows us to fully depend on it. Instead, we place our trust in the extensive experience and meticulous approach of our expert, Dr Rosenthal.
During the final consultation, we will answer any remaining questions and provide you with information on the best aftercare. You are unlikely to require any recovery time. However, avoid exercising and strenuous activities for the next two weeks. You can wash your hair four days after the treatment.
We monitor the success of the treatment through regular check-ups. It is normal for the implanted hair to fall out between the 4th and 12th week. The new hairs start to grow after about six months. You will see the final results in about 12 months.
