Injection lipolysis, which is used to treat stubborn fat deposits, is also known as fat reduction injection. The procedure has been enjoying increasing popularity in Europe for about 20 years. Unwanted fat deposits can be gently reduced without the need for invasive liposuction. We would like to introduce you to the treatment and its benefits below.
The procedure, which originates from Brazil, is based on an active ingredient extracted from soya beans. The active ingredient, which is marketed under the trade name ‘Aqualyx’, is injected into the fatty tissue, where it dissolves the fat and enables the body to remove the dead fat cells. Uniform and lasting results can be achieved with this method, usually after several treatments. Injection lipolysis is suitable for use on double chins, gynaecomastia (male breasts), but also on the legs and stomach, as well as on so-called saddlebags.
Injection lipolysis is used successfully against stubborn fat deposits, especially in slim people. The advantage: the procedure is minimally invasive. Also, unlike in liposuction, no general anaesthesia is required, which eliminates the associated risks. This also means that there is no downtime after the procedure. However, you cannot expect the same results as during liposuction, where large amounts of fat can be removed. Nevertheless, injection lipolysis provides satisfactory results for most patients. Generally, two to six applications are necessary. Injection lipolysis is not suitable for overweight patients. The target weight should already have been reached, and major weight fluctuations should be ruled out.
As with any medical treatment, risks and side effects can also occur with injection lipolysis. Potential risks may include pain, redness or swelling at the injection site. Allergic reactions can also occur in rare cases. However, we will provide you with comprehensive information about potential risks and side effects before the treatment.
As with every treatment at the utoquai clinic, you will have a detailed consultation with the doctor treating you. During this appointment, we will discuss your wishes and expectations and explain potential risks and side effects. Ideally, you should refrain from taking blood thinners for some time before the treatment to minimise the risk of bruising.
Treatment with injection lipolysis only takes about 15 minutes. However, we proceed very cautiously during the treatment, so that two to six treatments at intervals of at least 14 days may be necessary. After the treatment, you can go back to your daily routine as usual. However, there may be swelling and redness at the injection site. You should not apply any cosmetics to the injection site for 12 hours after the treatment. To avoid diminishing the treatment result, you should also refrain from exercising and avoid exposure to heat. You can expect to see the final treatment results approximately three to four after the last treatment.
Side effects rarely occur with injection lipolysis. Swelling and redness may occur after the treatment. Allergic reactions are rare.
Injection lipolysis is suitable for patients who have already reached their desired weight and are no longer struggling with severe weight fluctuations. Before the treatment, you should refrain from taking certain medications after consulting your doctor.
Generally, two to six treatments may be necessary to achieve a satisfactory result. The number of treatments varies from person to person.
