Breast augmentation still belongs to the world wide most frequently performed aesthetic surgery procedures. Meanwhile it is also one of the safest procedures, if it is performed by a specialist. The best predictable result is still achieved by insertion of silicone implants, the therapy with fat grafting offers however an alternative to breast implants.
Depending on breast shape, breast size and tissue quality the implant is whether placed above (epipectoral) or underneath the muscle (subpectoral, dual plane). In cases of massive excess of skin occasionally an additional breast lift (augmentation mastopexie) is required. In the clinic utoquai we use the latest techniques and most advanced implant material for these operations.

Breast augmentation can be performed on an outpatient basis under light general anaesthesia.
A small incision is made either in the skin fold under the breast or at the lower edge of the nipple or in the armpit (axilla) region (minimal scar, “invisble scar technique”). Dependent upon your own unique individual circumstances and after discussing all available options with you, we insert the implant (silicone or saline) either under the pectoral muscle or under the mammary gland of the breast. The procedure can be combined with additional fat grafting (known as hybrid or composite breast augmentation).
Incidents and complications are extremely rare in breast augmentation procedures. Again, while extremely rare, on occasion, a patient could experience infection, hemorrhage, irritated scars and abnormal sensation in the area of the nipple in the initial days following surgery which usually fade without additional treatment.
The implants will be surrounded by a fine capsule of connective tissue in the body after about 6 weeks, which give the implant the required stability. After several years or decades a capsular contracture can occur (scarred thickening of the fine capsule). If this is associated with symptoms such as intense pain or distortion of breast shape (capsular fibrosis grade III to IV after Baker) the implants should be changed.
The breasts are supported with a tight-fitting bra for several weeks following your procedure. However, you may return to work and resume normal daily activities between 10 – 14 days following surgery and resume more sporting and more stressful activities again between 4 – 6 weeks following surgery dependent upon the nature of the activity.
As with any cosmetic procedure, breast augmentation surgery costs can vary widely dependent upon the patient, type and extent of procedure, implant required and so forth.
Our fee is also based on duration of the surgery (light or deep anesthesia). Naturally, all surgical fees are discussed, agreed and paid in advance. They include anesthesia, operating room facilities or other related expenses like implants etc.
In general, most health insurances do not cover breast augmentation surgery as the procedure is viewed as being aesthetic in nature.
