With a buttock augmentation, the so-called “Brazilian butt lift”, the size and shape of the buttocks can be improved. The fat that is removed in areas of excess can be used to create a youthful harmonious buttock.
In detail, fat is removed with small blunt cannulas mainly from the abdomen, flanks, back and hips and thighs. The harvested fat tissue is processed, separated and finally transplanted to the subcutaneous tissue of the desired zones.
Autologous fat (fat from your own body) can be easily transplanted, i.e. reinjected, where volume is needed (lipofilling, fat grafting). The procedure is mostly used in the face and lips, breast and more and more frequently to the buttocks. Since it is your own tissue, there is not rejection of the grafted tissue. Since the transplanted fat tissue adopts the same physical properties as the recipient site, fat grafting to the areas that are enhanced and contoured will result in a natural feel undistinguishable from normal tissue.

Buttock augmentation/Brazilian butt lift can be performed ambulant under a light general anesthesia or under sedation and local anesthesia. Ideal candidates for this procedure present with a body mass index below 35 kg/m2. BMI is a calculation of your body weight in kg and size in m2 and is an important marker to prevent postoperative complications. To contour the buttock, fat is removed from the hips, back and abdomen to accentuate the form and shape of these areas. With modern liposuction techniques, fat is harvested in a gentle way at the Utoquai Clinic, processed and reinjected in a closed system. Strict adherence to these protocols leads to a significant reduction in complications. A full and tight buttock can be obtained by micro-injections of fat in the subcutaneous tissue, equally distributed to obtain a maximal take rate of the transplanted fat.
Complications after buttock augmentations are rare but may be potentially serious. After the operations, a temporary loss of sensibility or a feeling of tension is possible and usually regresses over the first few days after the procedure. Mainly at the harvest site, hematoma and muscle ache like pain can occur. Since we strictly prevent fat injections to the deep muscle layer, the risk of perfusion failure and fat embolism is minimal.
The first 2 weeks after the procedure we recommend wearing a compression garment to support the tissues and to stabilize the transplanted fat to improve healing and graft take. After 7-14 days, normal activities and sports can be resumed.
As with any cosmetic procedure, costs for a butt augmentation can vary widely and depend on the extend of the planned procedure, the skin quality, age and so forth. Our fees are based on the exact type and extent of the surgical procedure planned and the chosen form of anesthesia, i.e. general- or local anesthesia with/without sedation.
The fees are preoperatively discussed and agreed with you and can be considered as a flat rate including the surgeons and anesthesia fees, the operation room cost, compression garments and the follow-up consultations. The fees are due before surgery.
In general, most health insurances do not cover cosmetic surgery.
