Microfat / SNIF

Your Specialists for the Microfat / SNIF Treatment

A harmoniously contoured facial expression contributes significantly to a fresh and vibrant appearance. Over the years, through weight changes or skin aging, volume loss, fine wrinkles, and uneven surface textures can develop—most often affecting the cheeks, nose, mouth regions, as well as the hands and décolleté. Many people desire a solution that builds precise volume, smooths irregularities, and looks natural. A specialized form of lipofilling can help.

The Microfat treatment uses the body’s own tiny fat particles (< 1 mm) as a biological “filler” for fine volume corrections and contour smoothing—without any foreign material. With the SNIF technique (“sharp needle intradermal fat grafting”), Microfat can also be applied even to very fine wrinkles, such as those around the upper lip or décolleté.

At clinic utoquai in Zurich, every Microfat treatment is individually designed: Area selection, injection volume, and depth are precisely matched to your anatomy and desired outcome. Thanks to the good blood supply in the face, a high proportion of the transferred fat remains permanently, delivering naturally appearing, long-lasting results.

Procedure for Microfat Treatment

Consultation

We discuss your goals, analyze volume distribution and skin quality, and define the suitable treatment areas. You will receive a realistic assessment of the procedure, results, potential resorption, and aftercare—clear and transparent.

Preparation

To ensure optimal healing, we recommend avoiding blood-thinning medications, alcohol, and nicotine about two weeks before the procedure. During the pre-treatment consultation, we will provide detailed advice on appropriate preparatory measures.

Treatment

This outpatient procedure is performed under local anesthesia. A small amount of fat is harvested through tiny incisions, processed into Microfat, and then injected into the targeted areas using fine cannulas. Using the SNIF technique, even very fine wrinkles can be treated intradermally, usually without leaving visible marks.

Aftercare

Small adhesive strips on the treated areas are usually removed early; mild swelling or bruising typically subsides within a few days. Most of our patients can return to work and social activities within 3–5 days, and sports can be resumed after 2–3 weeks. The results stabilize over a period of 3–6 months.

Cost of Microfat / SNIF Treatment in Zurich

The cost depends on the area and extent of the treatment. Generally, prices for Microfat/SNIF treatment start at 5,000 CHF. During the consultation, we will create a transparent and personalized cost plan for you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Microfat Treatment

How long does the result of a Microfat/SNIF treatment last?

A portion of the fat (approximately 30%) is reabsorbed in the first 3–6 months, but the remaining volume is permanent. The final result is assessed after the stabilization phase is complete.

What is the difference between Microfat and SNIF?

Microfat refers to the injection of very small fat particles for volume correction and contour smoothing. SNIF (“sharp needle intradermal fat grafting”) involves placing Microfat very superficially in fine wrinkles using a sharp needle.

How much downtime should I expect?

Mild swelling and bruising may occur, but most patients can return to work and social activities within 3–5 days. We recommend avoiding sports for about 2–3 weeks.

Is the Microfat/SNIF treatment safe?

Yes, since it uses autologous fat, the treatment is highly biocompatible and well-tolerated. Complications are rare, and minor swelling or bruising generally subsides quickly.
